The drift of a shadow, a beam of light brushing dust suspended in the air, the heat a stone still holds. My practice accepts that our attempts to make sense of experience have limits, and it situates itself at those limits.
How can we relate to forces we are entangled in without seeking to contain them? How far can we follow the path of a single grain of sand among countless others, driven by the wind at this very moment, which is already another moment even as we ask? What does it mean to think from something when we do not know what it is? I attend to what constitutes us and, at the same time, exceeds us.
Drawing, watercolor, sculpture, video, photography, and writing give rise to situations in which the familiar coexists with the immeasurable, the time it takes a mountain to form with that of a conversation lasting an afternoon, and nearby geographies with others barely imagined.
Drawing in the dark. Returning to the sky, with a mirror, the little light the rainforest lets through to the ground. A roll of bird photographs that, once developed, comes back blank. A withered tree whose shadow, perhaps, is that of other trees. In this way, I sketch a field of speculation. I want it to be ever-changing and, beyond what I can put forward myself, permeated by other voices in group readings and collaborations. Alongside what is already happening in each space, physical or collective, I am interested in proposing places to linger and, above all, to get lost.
I acknowledge that not everything exists to be seen, experienced, or known, nor to respond to demands for evidence. Meanwhile, it is still day inside the stone, the dust falls, and the shadow glides.
